In many ways, America is reaching the stage of spiritual retardation and the manifest inability to discern between good and evil. When our spiritual senses cease to be exercised, we do, in fact, loose the ability to determine right from wrong (Heb. 5: 11-14). However, we have advanced beyond the stage described by the writer of Hebrews. Isaiah warned, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isa. 5: 20). Isaiah’s denunciation is directed to people who not only could not discern good and evil, but they called evil good and good evil. Those who oppose homosexuality and same sex marriage are called evil and mean spirit racists. To the converse, those who favor same sex marriage, many churches and preachers do, are good, kind, and loving. These people who thus judge have become "wise in their own eyes" (Isa. 5: 21). Hence, they speak with authority and many politicians and religious leaders are listening.

     God ordained marriage between a man and a woman. It was not good that man (Adam) be alone, God said (Gen. 2: 18). Notice, to satisfy man’s aloneness, God created woman (Eve) for Adam (vs. 22). The woman is ideally suited for man because she is "bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh" (vs. 23). She is woman (ishshah, she/man). She is also a "help meet" or counterpart (vs. 20). She compliments man, emotionally, physically, and psychologically. To put it simply, God did not create man for man or woman for woman! One product or design of marriage is children (Gen. 1: 28). Not only is same sex marriage a perversion, it fails in all three of the just mentioned areas.

     Homosexuality is associated with sexual depravity and general moral decay. Paul described the Gentile world of his day as being spiritually abandoned (Rom. 1). Fornication, covetousness, and maliciousness were common sins (Rom. 1: 29). Along with the list of deplorable sins which will destroy a society, Paul describes homosexuality, men with men and women with women (Rom. 1: 24-27). Hear him: "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet" (vss. 26, 27). Paul terms such as "vile affections" and "uncleanness" (vss. 26, 24). Paul also affirms that such conduct is reprehensible to God (vss. 24, 26 28). The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was homosexuality (Gen. 19). "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner," Jude wrote, "giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire" (Jude 7).

     Practicing homosexuals shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. The expression "Kingdom of God" is often used to stand for God’s blessings and acceptance (see "Kingdom of God" in Great Truths, accessed from home page). "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God?" Paul asks, "Do not be deceived; neither fornicators…nor homosexuals…shall inherit the Kingdom of God" (I Cor. 6: 9, 10, NASV). However, practicing homosexuals can change: "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God" (vs. 11).
