Question:  Is speech really that important, as mentioned in your Current Truth?

Answer:   As seen in Current Truth, speech is of great importance.  One reason for this importance is seen in the biblical fact that our speech identifies us and reveals our heart (Be sure to first read Current Truth).

Question:  Is not speech always in a state of flux?

Answer:   Some contend that since speech is always evolving and changing that it matters not what words we use at a given time.  While the state of flux in speech is true, such does not alter or negate the current meaning of words and what they express.

Question:  Why did you title your Current Truth, "Profane, Obscene, and Indecent Speech"?

Answer:  Current Truth shows, I believe, that "profane," "obscene," and "indecent" pretty well cover the range of biblically condemned speech.  Hence, the title.

Question:  Does Current Truth argue that certain speech is wrong based on its civil illegality?

Answer:   The reference to state laws is simply to illustrate how society once recognized that certain speech was publicly unacceptable.

Question:  Since the FCC has changed its position relative to many words once condemned by Christians, should not such a change make the use of these words by the Christian acceptable?

Answer:   While Current Truth concedes that words do on occasion evolve and change their meaning, words that continue to be profane, obscene, and indecent remain wrong for the Christian to use.  Just because civil law authorizes an act does not necessarily mean that such an act is authorized by God (cp. Acts 5: 29).

Question:  Does not your Current Truth seek to deprive Americans of freedom of speech?

Answer:   Good question.  "Freedom of speech" was never meant to embrace and endorse all manner of speech.  Speech carries with it certain responsibilities and the user needs to respect these common sense considerations.

Question:  Should not maturity levels be considered and allowance made pertaining to offensive speech?

Answer:  No, not really.  Children should not be allowed or encouraged to use improper speech.

Question:  What do you think is the influence being exerted that is changing our speech?

Answer:   As seen in Current Truth, there are a number of forces at work.  Perhaps one of the greatest, though, is television and Hollywood.  It appears that there is an organized agenda to change the way people think and open the flood gates for all manner of vile, repulsive, and disgusting speech.  Such is working, I might add.  People are becoming more and more desensitized and are accepting and even themselves using speech that they once would have without hesitation said was profane, obscene, and/or indecent.
